Blacks do NOT eat fried chicken -- apparently
We read:
"An ad by KFC showing a man giving chicken to West Indies fans has been slammed as racist. In the "cricket survival guide" ad, an Australian fan named Mick asks viewers "Need a tip when you're stuck in an awkward situation?" after being surrounded by cheering West Indies fans.
He then shares a bucket of KFC chicken with fans around him to calm the situation. The video has caused a massive stir in the US after it was posted on YouTube. The ad has been seen by some in the US as a reference to racial stereotype that African Americans eat fried chicken.
KFC Australia has acknowledged that the ad could be perceived as racist. They said the ad had been "misinterpreted by a segment of people in the US" in a statement released this morning. "It is a light-hearted reference to the West Indian cricket team," the statement read. "The ad was reproduced online in the US without KFC's permission, where we are told a culturally-based stereotype exists, leading to the incorrect assertion of racism.

A lot of American sensitivities are purely American. The High Court of Australia even ruled a few years ago that the word "n*gger" is not offensive in Australia

If you had any balls, you would replace that '*' with an 'i'. Back up your game.
First of all, only a total nitiwit, or someone with zero knowlege of blacks would say they don't eat fried chicken. They live on it. That, and pizza.
Here in the US, most people from the West Indies, or the Carribean Islands, etc. don't consider themselves as "blacks", and will get highly offended when they are compared. I once asked a friend from Bermuda why this was. He told me they're not at all like American blacks, in that, they work for a living and don't rely on handouts from the government, they care about family members and community, and they're not prone to criminal activity. And here in NYC, his was a factual statement.
If KFC uses blacks in commercials they are racist.... if they don’t use blacks in commercials they are racist.... how do they win this one?
Instead of hating whites they should embrace us. Don't hate success, copy it.

"You really think Southern black people are any more likely to eat fried chicken than Southern white people"?
Yes David, i do. And it's not a secret, nor is it (IMO) in any way demeaning to blacks. In fact, i love fired chicken, and i'm White. But in large urban areas with large black populations, (NYC, Chicago, DC, etc.) most chicken places would close if not for blacks.
P.S.
David, as for pizza in college towns, you are probably right. But again, in places with large black populations (not usually college towns) pizza is a big, big, favorite of blacks. A very close friend owns 5 pizza restaurants in NYC, and 85% of his customers are black.
Even if blacks don't eat fried chicken, why would be racist to say they do?
This whole thing is ridiculous.
This is about a supporter of one team sitting in the middle of a group of supporters of another team and wanting to ease the tension by sharing a delicious treat.
That said, this whole series of ads from KFC is pretty moronic. But this particular ad is no more offensive than if the Aussie had sat amongst Pakistanis and offered to share curry and rice or if he'd sat amongst Poms and offered to share roast beef.
You sell out pretty easy JJ. Get another host, maybe one that doesn't have such deep ties to the Left.
And one that doesn't track every word we say!
Liberals are like lemmings running blindly off a cliff to their own demise
Birdshitta,
I don't get the analogy. Examples please.
please tell me what is wrong with liking fried chicken? I like potatoes and I'm Irish somewhat, I don't mind if they associate potatoes with the Irish. How could one be ashamed of food??
This is ridiculous. I work in corrections. I recall not too many years ago that the evening meal being served was fried chicken. I had MORE THAN ONE black inmate to nuts over the fact that we were serving fried chicken. It's true - they love this stuff. "Soul food" is what I've heard them call it.
