Breastfeeding censored

How sick this nonsense is! How can babies feeding in a perfectly natural and healthy way be obscene?
"Facebook is under fire after removing pictures of breastfeeding mothers from members' pages. A Facebook group entitled "Hey, Facebook, breastfeeding is not obscene!'' has already attracted nearly 85,000 members and a handful of activists held a rally outside its California headquarters over the weekend.

The organisers of the page, which is hosting a lively debate with more than 10,000 comments, said they launched their "Official Petition to Facebook'' after Facebook pulled profile pictures showing women nursing their babies. "The pictures have been reported as 'obscene' and have been removed - their posters warned not to repost or fear being kicked off of Facebook,'' the group's organisers said. "We're wondering: what about a baby breastfeeding is obscene? Especially in comparison to MANY other pictures posted all over Facebook that really are obscene.''

Facebook, which has more than 120 million members, said there was no ban on breastfeeding pictures but it did have a policy on how much of a woman's breast could be revealed, similar to that of US newspapers and other media outlets.

Anyone who is upset by a baby feeding needs to get a life.

It seems all-too easy for people to complain about someone's posting on Facebook or Utube and get that post removed. In fact, it was just done by Hammas terrorists to the Isreali military, yet the terrorists page continues to play!

BTW, what is the purpose of showing a woman breastfeeding her child to millions of people she doesn't even know?

It isn’t the action that is bad, it is how it is portrayed!

Last Sunday in Church, the young lady just in front of me, breast feed her baby and nothing was visible, it was a very natural event of a mother taking care of her child. Yet I have seen pictures of gals that were totally topless, with a child on one boob and the other hanging free. Well it was half of a natural event and half of a big tit.

So the idiot proposing the law against breast feeding, is only seeing the women that wants to be seen Naked, and he isn’t seeing the women that breast feeds, with a bit of modesty!

as a moderator to a somewhat similar site I can fully understand why such images are removed.
Especially Americans (but some others too) have become so sensitive to any display of skin that we're getting complaints when a photo of a Roman or Renaiscance sculpture depicting a nude person isn't marked as unsuitable for minors.

Therefore we have a policy that any image depicting a breast or "nether regions" be marked as such or it will be removed.
It's not because we like to do it, but to protect ourselves from lawsuits.

Just because it is "Natural" does not mean it should be public - defecation for example?

Breast feeding in a modest way is fine, but anyone who wants to flaunt it is trying to make a point and shock.

It's rather funny how many people actually think we've left the Victorian age behind, when in fact, we haven't.

This is more a case of not having all the facts than censorship. The pictures removed by Facebook are ones where the "breastfeeding" mother is topless and both breasts are showing clearly.

These are exhibitionist photos and not simple breastfeeding shots. Facebook has not removed hundreds of pictures showing mothers feeding their babies, only the ones that push the limits.

Facebook is trying to hold the line and keep from becoming a porn site and the complaining women were pushing the limits.
