Mango forced to apologize for 'anti-Semitic' shirt bearing lightning bolts similar to insignia worn by the SS in Nazi Germany
This is a silly response to a coincidental resemblance. Nobody would think this pattern promoted Nazism
Spanish retailer Mango has come under fire for selling a shirt decorated in lightning bolts that resemble an insignia worn by the SS and Hitler youths in Nazi Germany.
Twitter users, especially those in Germany, were up in arms after they spotted the resemblance, noting that the tiny black zig-zag lines on the $59.99 blouse look just like the Siegrune, a symbol used by the Schutzstaffel or SS, the Nazi party's protection squadron, during World War II.
Mango has since apologized, calling it an 'unfortunate association', but the criticism has continued to pour in.
Negative associations: The Siegrune (pictured in a 1940 recruitment poster for the Waffen SS, a wing of the Nazi party) was a common symbol on Nazi uniforms and on Nazi flags
One Twitter user called the shirt an 'epic #design fail,' while another branded it 'Nazi chic'.
A third person remarked: 'After Zara, the SS shirt by Mango,' referring to an incident in August, when Zara was forced to apologize for selling a striped T-shirt that appeared to resemble clothes warn by prisoners in Nazi concentration camps.

I guess the Nazis still have some copyright protection for the zig-zag thunderbolt symbol ?!
The Tampa Bay Lightning skate on, unawares, bless them.
More seriously, the endemic narcissism behind such faux outrage only gets worse by taking it seriously. Laugh at the pretentious little twits instead; it'll do more good.
But their so tiny i would have noticed that its just some people cant keep their noses to themselves
Wow - some people try really hard to find stuff to get outraged and offended at.
Surely there are enough genuine tragedies in the world to be upset about without having to make stuff up?
Just like students being told by the school sucker heads to not wear their NRA T-Shirts Typical school whimpotard
J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter are next. Have you noticed how close Harry's scar is to the lightning bolt on the lady's blouse? Neither of which are the double lightning bolt of the SS.
Give me a break, people!

My apologies for the double post. I tried, but couldn't find a way to remove the second one.

Actually it just a simple pattern on the shirt. When i first saw this shirt, i didn't think of the SS. Is it too sensitive?
Honestly, I think it is just a coincidence. Refer to the arising of military style, lightning bolts are usually applied for the Korean street fashion, so in this case, is that mean we can judge those Asia retailers for the copyright of thunderbolt symbol as well? People are too sensitive about this.
It is just a simple natural pattern on fabric.Creative should not be banned or effected by political. Otherwise, the world would stick in the mud.
Creative is regardless of ethnic. It is only a simple lightning pattern on the white shirt for fashion.
Actually the lighting bolts are simple shapes in fashion industry. This design did not make me think of the SS collection and Mango is not necessary to apologize. Don't be too sensitive please! Mango has mentioned that they have a collection together with heart shape and star shape already!
mind trick or just a coincidence. Pikachu is next, or maybe that pattern is inspired by zeus, who knows?
In the designs of Zara and and mango, I cannot find any similarity and relationships with the Nazism. Both patterns are common that we saw on every garment in every boutiques.
The lighting bolt is nothing special at all. It is only a simple pattern. It's not an epic#design fail. The lighting bolt means nothing on the shirt, think too much.
I think so. It is just a lightening pattern printing. If you say it needed to be two grouped pattern will be more nearly with the Nazi's.
- Never an association of these simple patter to wars
-The pattern design is too political sensitive
-The pattern have no any right of ownership
-I think they are just misunderstanding between each other.
Too sensitive to think that simple black zig-zag line pattern like a symbol used by the schutzstaffel!
people normally won't think of that, unless you understand Germany history so well. May be Nazism affect them to much, thus they over-react to the design.
The people who think that is Schutzstaffel or SS, the Nazi party's protection squadron are over-sensitive. I just think that is a lightning shaped pattern on a shirt.
Actually the lighting pattern is very popular, many fashion company also have a shirt with this symbol, like TOPSHOP. Perhaps Mango can stop selling this shirt in Germany. But I think it still can selling in other country.
The lightning bolts pattern are very normal. I think this just a misunderstanding. And any place can see this pattern, such as weather reporters, film(harry potter, The Flash)...etc, so I think this no problem
Ridiculous. The shirt is so dull. I think nobody will really notice that.
I think that mango can not use the lighten logo in Germany because the pattern is too sensitive. Manage can consider to Germany business. Actually this logo is more popular, as we all know many fashion brand has used this pattern too such as Topshop, Zara, H&M.
I think it would just a coincidence for the shirt's pattern. More is the people have an excessive fantasy. Maybe the theme of the shirt's pattern is about the electricity......
If the theme is not inspired by the war, it is not a problem. The original design concept was distorted by complainants and I think we need to respect the designer.
they are too sensitive, I really want to know how they imagine the Nazi Germany from a nice design in white and lightning bolts, creativity was limited by such people.
I never think this lightning bolts pattern related to Nazi, they are too sensitive.
I support Mango because the designer has stand a clear design idea to use the lightning bolts by mini-motifs. For me, the symbol design of the lightning bolts is total different from the Nazi's symbol.
This is not a nazi symbol!!! Swastkia is not a nazi symbol. I suggest to everyine who is thinking this way to make a reaserch. Thease symbols are much older, Swastika is symbol of good luck and sun, also protective symbol. Probably this is the reasin why they decides to use swastika and runes, to protect themeself. Please stop saying nazi symbols!!! They've been stolen by nazis.
