"For the children" is a classic Leftist excuse for controlling adults
"A federal judge blocked yesterday a new state Internet obscenity law meant to shield children from sexually explicit material, ruling that the statute was written so broadly that it would criminalize legitimate websites and general electronic communication.
The decision was celebrated by civil rights advocates, but it frustrated prosecutors who have encountered difficulty in convicting Internet predators under outdated laws that fail to cover new technologies.
‘Due to this preliminary injunction, we are unable to enforce this much needed law,’ said Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, whose office prosecuted the online predator case that led to yesterday’s ruling.”

Attention Parents.....
What kids do or watch is YOUR responsibility.
We want LESS government intrusion in our lives.
APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE!! (for the above comment)
There is no normal person who would be against protecting our children from predators, online or off. What we should be seeking is more competent public officials who actually know how to write a law that won't get tossed.
"We want LESS government intrusion in our lives."
Especially with abortion and women's reproductive rights.

Yes there is-me
YOU are YOUR childs defence against online predators. Buy the software and install it. Log their communication on social networks and IM programs. BE A PARENT!
Laws allow charges to be laid against the perp after the fact. That doesn't protect anyone, it's just retribution. And retribution will not fix your kid or get her her life back. We have laws against almost everything that can happen to a kid, but bad things still happen. That's because a law never prevented anyone that really wanted to do something horrible from doing it. If it did there would be no crime at all. Prevention prevents things.
How about if all the parents in the country start acting like responsible adults? NetNanny and its ilk are designed for idiots to be able to use, the phone company will send you CCs of all their txt messages, and your ISP can give you access to a list of everything done by users of your account. Do your job and the rest of us will not have to worry about your kid or the pervs that are interested in them.

While important I'm a bit more concerned with my 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendment right. The 1st and 4th being most jermain to the current conversation.
