Libertarian site says it is racist to condemn illegal immigration

Many of the more extreme libertarians have an "open borders" philosophy
"This is the very ugly, very racist tirade of Sharron Angle the so-called Tea Party candidate in Nevada. Any libertarian who is still defending this disgusting movement has either not been paying attention or is brain dead. The Tea Party is anti-liberty. They are bigoted against immigrants and gays and are actually worse on social liberty than your normal Republican. Surveys show that the Tea Party is mainly the most reactionary element of the Republican Party.

Angle, who is also a staunch anti-gay bigot, of course, claims that "waves" of Mexicans are coming to America. Actually immigration flows are way down because these people came looking for jobs and when jobs dry up they go back. But in Angle's fevered, bigoted, little brain these people are not coming to America for work but for the explicit purpose of "joining violent gangs, forcing families to live in fear."

Source

The argumentation by the libertarian is VERY weak. It is true that the rate of illegal immigration varies but that is not to stay that it stops. Whether the "wave" is large or small, there still are such waves coming in.

As testimony to how weak his argument is, the writer erects a straw man. According to him the advertisement claims that illegals are coming for "the explicit purpose" of joining gangs. Nowhere in the advertisement does it say that. It just lists gang joining as one of the things that they do. And there are indeed many illegal immigrant gang members whom America could well do without.

And NOWHERE does the author offer any evidence of a racist motive. It is just a smear.

Some libertarians can be as fanatical and doctrinaire as any Leftist. It's sad when you have an ideology to defend. Conservatives just go with reality so don't need to lie. And reality never justifies unfettered liberty.

"Conservatives just go with reality so don't need to lie."

Then why do conservatives couple themselves with religion? Religion does not equal reality. Conservatives promote the big lie of religion.

Because both are examples of "wishful thinking"!

Jesus said if ANY body calls on his name they would be saved. That sounds pretty inclusive to me.

Now groups like NAACP and others focus on skin color not inclusiveness

Our founding fathers thought religion was pretty important otherwise they wouldn't have put freedom of religion in the constitution would they?

Hmm, the only faces they show are Mexican. What about illegals from Canada, of which there are many. I know illegals from Germany here. But no one notices the white illegals and no one shows them when they rant about illegals (while making sure none of these people could get in legally).

The founders thought freedom of speech was important too as well as freedom of the press and every other freedom. They though freedom of religion was important because when it didn't exist Christians were slaughtering each other by the hundreds of thousands.

JJR,

I'm not sure this guy truly understands what the word "libertarian" means, actually.

I think to him it's just, "a philosophy I can use to justify my adolescent frustration at others for not recognizing my superiority."

Anonymous 5:50 AM,

I live here in Canada, I'm a Canadian, and there are lots of Canadians who look just like those guys. Please don't stereotype us any more; we get so tired of people who do that instead of educating themselves.

send the ticos back to mexico and the frostbacks back to canada and the krauts back to germany and let them come over legally.

Latinos get extra attention because the illegal ones, for the most part, refuse to integrate. Quite a few of the other illegals make efforts to assimilate into the society. Most of the news items about foreigners killing nuns, ranchers, children, teenagers, and others are about Latino illegal immigrants. I would hope that legal Latinos immigrants and natural Latino citizens would be offended by these invaders giving them a bad name.

As far as libertarians.. fix (see eliminate) the welfare state first.. then we can talk about lessening the immigration enforcement and legalizing drugs. Until you get your damned hand out of my pocket you’re not getting my support for anything else.

Libertarians don't always agree on everything.

The ones I know who support open borders also support ending public education, public hospitals, and any benefit that doesn't come from the private sector or a charity.

Communist and marxists never fought over how gods may not exist (atheism), they fought over a political idealogy, and they killed their political opponents or those they perceived to be a threat whether they happened to be religious or not.

Religion is not a lie

It is just something on which there are many opinions

Calling it a lie is being dogmatic, bigoted and intolerant

"Calling it a lie is being dogmatic, bigoted and intolerant"

Just like the religious right do. What kind of an atheist are you, an AINO?

What f*cking part of "illegal" don't you Liberals get? There are established rules and laws that non-citizens coming into the United States must follow, and they are not not. Thus, they are illegal.

Hey Anon 1:56, Jon Jay is the type of atheist who may not believe in the existence of Gold, but also does not feel the need to constantly put down everyone who believes in a power greater than themselves. Sadly, the majority of them that I know have this need.

'God' is only a word for "a power greater than ourselves". There are many powers beyond our personal control and understanding, but calling an ultimate one "God" or a divine being, explains nothing about it other than that. Then to make a huge jump in assuming all manner of characteristics this "God" has is simply wishful-thinking or sublimation, especially making God a substitute parent who will love us forever in his heavenly home (then it becomes literally infantile).

Is 7:32 PM talking about God or Gold (Mamon) - was that a freudian slip?

God is everything that we do not understand. God is getting smaller every day.

Spoken like a true conservative.
