Some liberals speak up for real choice

We read:
"After CBS agreed to run a Super Bowl commercial featuring Tim Tebow, several feminist and pro-choice groups rose up in protest against the ad, calling on the network to pull it.

Now, however, even some liberals are calling those attacks misguided, saying the choice to give birth to an unborn child is also part of pro-choice beliefs.

An unsigned New York Times editorial called the campaign to have CBS reject the Tebow spot "puzzling and dismaying." The paper, which takes a pro-choice stance on its editorial pages, called the protesting groups "would-be censors" and said they should use the ad to convey to America that their movement favors "protecting the right of women like Pam Tebow to make their private reproductive choices."

It's NEVER been about choice. It's always been about irresponsiblity, lack of personal self-control and money. The abortion INDUSTRY makes millions off killing inner city babies, mostly minority. Yet, the liberals can get the majority of the votes from the people on who they inflict their infanticide. Curious...

Anon 12:51, Thank you!

The ONLY way a woman can become pregnant (medical procedures excluded) is by having sex, either consensual or non-consensual.

If the sex was consensual, then the women should understand that one of the risks of having sex is getting pregnant. It's a fact and it cannot be denied.

If the sex was not consensual, then simply put, it was rape. And if it was rape, then the woman should contact the police immediately.

This is not a gray issue. It's all about responsibility and accountability for one's actions. Aborting a baby because the woman is inconvenienced is murder, plain ans simple.

I'm not sure what America you live in but inner city babies are NOT the target. Inner city families tend to be over populated because they can't afford an abortion. It is the middle class white girls in the suburbs who are getting most of the abortions.

Other than that, I agree with you

This gets into some stereotyping, but.....

According to the Guttmacher Institute:

• Thirty-seven percent of abortions occur to black women, 34% to non-Hispanic white women, 22% to Hispanic women and 8% to women of other races.

• The abortion rate among women living below the federal poverty level ($9,570 for a single woman with no children) is more than four times that of women above 300% of the poverty level (44 vs. 10 abortions per 1,000 women). This is partly because the rate of unintended pregnancies among poor women (below 100% of poverty) is nearly four times that of women above 200% of poverty* (112 vs. 29 per 1,000 women.

Clearly the idea that "middle class white girls in the suburbs who are getting most of the abortions" is not supported by the facts. Without seeing the actual data, it appears that the people getting the most abortions are those who are black and live below the poverty level.

In the end, it is still too many abortions and not enough personnel responsibility.

I'm not against abortion, because some people should not be having children, specially if they can't afford them and won't put them up for adoption.

In the case of rape, the rape victim might end up hating the child she never wanted, true, the opposite can happen if the rape victim had no choice in getting pregnant why force her to deliver the baby?

Either way, I have no problem with pro-lifers advertising their views, that's what freedom is all about.

But I would not go around blaming the abortion industry, it's the pregnant women who are responsible for their choices, if I buy heroin from a drug dealer and then I die because I used too much of the stuff, is it the drug dealer's fault I died?

And even if abortion is outlawed someday, women will simply go back to the wire hangers and back alley abortions, so nothing changes in the end.

Anon 3:44 has a good point. In the inner cities, every kid means a bigger govt. check, which is why many black men simply go around knocking-up every female they see, then get a piece of those checks. It's become an industry. Apparently, Guttmacher hasn't spent much time in the real world.

Apparently, Guttmacher hasn't spent much time in the real world.

You make the assumption that the industry targeting the poor and inner city woman and government support for families are somehow exclusive. They are not.

Both can and do exist in the inner cities. There are plenty of places to get an abortion and plenty of places to help get more from the government.

The left-leaning people who say that the choice to give birth to an unborn child is part of pro-choice beliefs are the ones who can rightly call themselves pro-choice, and I can at least respect their beliefs. Those who go into a frenzy and tirades over a woman who does choose to give birth cannot seriously be called pro-choice. The proper term for them is pro-ABORTION. I cannot bring myself to respect THEIR position.

Sorry, this is apples and oranges. Heroin is illegal and dangerous and those who take it know this. Abortion Incorporated known as Planned Parenthood sells abortion as a safe, harmless method of birth control. So many women end up with physical and emotional scars from these "safe" procedures. These organizations are guilty making money by deceiving women and selling them something that has real risks as a simple cure-all.

You're exactly right Robert. They changed their name long ago because of it's negative image. So now you have "pro-choice" leftists who are against women choosing! How very typical of the left.

Somebody said, "blacks as a pct have far more abortions than whites and far more births with no father and far more homicide. perhaps instead of knocking white people they should copy them."

References please.

"Sorry, this is apples and oranges. Heroin is illegal and dangerous and those who take it know this."

---Ok, you got me there. A better example would be drinking too much since alcohol isn't illegal.

"Abortion Incorporated known as Planned Parenthood sells abortion as a safe, harmless method of birth control. So many women end up with physical and emotional scars from these "safe" procedures."

---That's because the goal is not being pregnant, a goal they are willing to pay at any price. Fat Acceptance organizations decry gastric-bypass surgeries because apparently some people have died for it, but you see, some people would risk death than be fat. So while I have some sympathy for the women, I don't have a lot because they should have known that not taking birth control and having unsafe sex leads to pregnancy. Unlike them, I always wear a condom, I always assume that the woman forgot to take the pill or wants to get pregnant on purpose and get me to pay child support.

"These organizations are guilty making money by deceiving women and selling them something that has real risks as a simple cure-all."

---Well, I wouldn't mind making them disclose the risks and punishing them when they don't report statutory rape to the authorities. But in general I take a very negative view on unwanted pregnancies because either the man is sued for child support or kept away from his child or forced to marry someone he doesn't love, etc, etc, etc. There are just too many negatives to simply outlaw abortion altogether.

As of 2008, blacks made up 12.4% of the U.S. Population.

According to the link provided earlier to the Guttmacher Institute, black women have 37% of the abortions.

That means that relative to their population percentage, black women have abortions at just shy of 3* times the rate of any other demographic group.

(*To be more specific, 2.984 times as many.)

I view Planned Parenthood as an organization that seeks to promote unprotected sex and ridicule abstinence as a means of drumming up abortion business for themselves, analogous to a glazier who would go around smashing windows in order to drum up business for himself. If young women who don't want to be pregnant decided to take abstinence seriously as a way of maintaining their goal, Planned Parenthood would lose a lot of their artificially manufactured business. Oh, and I have also read stories that fit in with their founder's desire to "cleanse" the American population of non-whites, where they send agents to make sure that any non-white woman who decided to abort actually goes through with it, by force if necessary.

I used to be opposed to abortions, but my mentality has changed. I had a revelation one day. I realized that it seems as though liberals are the majority of people getting abortions. Having said that, abort away.
