Oprah: Generations 'marinated' in racism will need to die out for discrimination to end

So it's people marinated in racism that made her a billionaire?  Does she think she is white?

Oprah Winfrey has said racism is still a problem around the world and the only way for it to end is for generations of racists to die out.

In an interview with the BBC to coincide with the release of her latest film The Butler, the chat show host said generations had been 'marinated' in racism.

The 59-year-old added that President Obama was treated with disrespect because of the color of his skin and said she feels fortunate to have been born after segregation ended in the U.S.

When asked if some of the challenges faced by Obama were down to the color of his skin, Winfrey, who had been a high-profile backer of his presidential campaign, said: 'There's no question'.

She highlighted an incident in 2009 when Republican congressman Joe Wilson called out 'you lie', as Obama gave a speech to Congress.

'I think there's a level of disrespect for the office that occurs,' she said. 'And that occurs in some cases ... because he's African American. There's no question about that. And it's the kind of thing no one ever says, but everybody's thinking.'

Her opinion upset some critics, with a news website dedicated to 'exposing and neutralizing liberal media bias' accusing her of 'playing the race card'.

The News Busters site said Winfrey was narrow-minded for focusing solely on racism against the black community, and added that it was 'patently absurd to suggest that racism is caused by old white people when racism and religious bigotry cut across all generations and ethnicities'.

Judging by crime levels, the major source of racism in America today is black hatred of whites

So Joe Wilson calling out "you lie" was because of race, not because Obama was… oh, I dunno… lying? Fascinating…

Wait, which side is constantly bringing up race and passing judgement based solely on race?

She does have a point. When all those presently steeped in racism are gone racism will be a thing of the past.

Of course, with people like her, Sharpton and Jackson claiming white people disagree with the president solely because of his color and continually beating the race drum it's unlikely racist attitudes have much chance of disappearing.

She needs to look in the mirror and examine her own racist attitudes and prejudices.

Harping continually about race insures that those "steeped in racism" will never die out and that includes blacks who overwhelmingly voted for a presidential candidate based on race. They don't even listen to their hero Dr Martin Luther King when he said that he dreamed of a day when men were judged by their character rather than the color of their skin. Oprah is just another hypocrite.

Oprah? Leading by example? Like when she made up the story about the Swiss shop girl not showing her a purse?

Yep, it was definitely because of all the people marinated in racism that Barack Obama was elected Presdient twice!

Vicarious victimhood is unlikely to ever die out so long as people have nothing else to blame their personal failures on, or can exploit in some way. The excuses can go back centuries over questions of race, nationality, regional identity, religion, politics, past wars & disputes, etc.,etc., ad nauseum!
