Colorado Democrats "mis-speak" on rape

In the House, Representative Joe Salazar (D-Thornton) made an incoherent and insensitive argument on the floor that college girls might not know when they were about to be raped and might overreact to a perceived threat with deadly consequences should they be allowed to carry concealed weapons on campus.

Two weeks later as a Senate committee was discussing the same campus gun ban, Senator Evie Hudak (D-District 19) came under fire for citing research that contradicted a woman who’d been raped on a college campus in Nevada and her emotional testimony that she might have been safer had she been carrying a concealed handgun.

Those gaffes, in part, forced Senate Democrats late Friday to kill House Bill 1226, the campus gun ban. “Republicans will remind the public about these blunders as often as possible until 2014 elections,” former state Representative B.J. Nikkel (R-Loveland) tells me.

But being Democrats, nothing will be held against them

Laws enacted based on emotions, hysteria, and fear, are never good no matter the issue, nor which side they help or hurt.

Yes, give your drama-queen emotions some extra effect by firing a few random bullets! The fashion accessory of every American must be a handy handgun (freely available in all shapes and sizes). Yes, let virtual reality imitate real life - and death. In any case, who nowadays can tell the difference between the tv news and movies or video-games.

Anon 2:51,

Aren't you a little old for acting out?

2:56 - I'd rather be "old" than make a childish response like yours!

Being a democrat means never having to say your sorry!

At least as long as the media covers for you!

The militia is the natural defense of a free country against foreign invasions, domestic insurrections, and domestic usurpations of power by rulers. The right of citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of liberties of the republic, since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers, and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.
— U.S. Supreme Court Justice Joseph

I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.

Democrats want to make sure that women are as vulnerable as possible because victims are easier to rule. Also they don't want any of those that support them or themselves, getting shot when they try to sexually assault someone.

Gun laws are always passed by people who are not subject to the law and have armed security at their disposal.

Private security guards are give exceptions to weapon laws because of "license" and "training". Time for that to change. If the limo libs' security have to go unarmed, how long before the criminals realise a fat goose for the plucking?

Yanks still live in the Wild West and think they are all tough like a John Wayne (with guns to compensate for the freudian small d*ck!). But to paraphrase the Bible - they who live by the gun will die by it (and so many do!).

3:11 AM, 180 million guns in the US and only 8,000 gun related deaths. No murders have been committed by LEGAL gun owners.

Its not the legal guns we have to worry about its the illegal ones that obama and his gang or morons give to criminals we have to worry about.

More GOOD has come from being armed than bad. But if you don't want to own a gun fine, don't like the bible or god, fine. But I do bet that if an armed criminal breaks into your house the first thing you do is call the people with guns and pray they get there on time!

“The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.”

― Jeff Cooper, Art of the Rifle

It's not so much about the guns which involve criminals, but the ease in which ordinary citizens having a gun to hand makes it more easy to kill and maim when people become angry or nervous while owning a gun.
The old argument is that it's not guns that kill but people - however the telling point is that guns make it dramatically more easy and account for the frightening death tolls in the US out of all proportion to equivalent western countries.

"No murders have bee committed by LEGAL gun owners" - really? Or is that some special definition of murder as opposed to killing, or ignoring wounding?
