"Nearly 100 demonstrators lined the streets outside a Tempe church Sunday to protest what they consider hate speech. Last month Pastor Steven Anderson delivered a sermon at the Faithful Word Baptist Church, near 48th Street and Southern Avenue, entitled "Why I hate Barack Obama."
In response to that sermon and several subsequent controversial comments by Anderson, the People Against Clergy Who Preach Hate held a Love Rally Sunday outside Anderson's church. "It's hard to believe we could have someone of a religious nature wishing our president was dead," said protester William Crumb.
Several of Anderson's parishioners, who declined to identify themselves, defended their pastor's sermons. "I hate people that hate God," said one Faithful Word parishioner. "As far as I know we live in America, we have freedom of religion, freedom to assemble and the freedom of speech," added another Faithful Word parishioner.
Protesters say they'll continue to picket Faithful Word Baptist Church so long as Anderson continues to preach what they consider hate.

Well said Mobius, but i don't believe that alone is what it is. Blacks are smart enough to know not to bite the hands (ie: Demoncrats and the Left) that feed them all that free "government cheese". You would win if you bet these "protestors" were paid union members. This is the new tactic being used by the Left all over the country. You can tell by the positive coverage they get from the MSM.
One would have assumed that after all these decades, blacks would have realized how they've been used and addicted to hand-outs by "their friends" on the Left. How they've had their dignity, self-respect, sense of responsibility, and personal ambition, stolen from them, all in the name of political support. That should tell you a lot about the Left, but sadly, it says more about blacks in general.
If the protesters are paid or not should be investigated by the IRS ,several taxes may be going unpaid ; income tax , employment tax , payments to social security ,
medicare , and maybe others .
But then can Obama , as Chief Executive , wave these fees ?

The form of Christianity I was raised around taught us not to hate anything, but Pastor Anderson has a right to say what he wants and his flock has a right to listen. Besides, it's a far cry from saying you hate the president to wanting him dead.
That being said, there is no free speech issue here. Anderson and his church members have a right to hate Obama and say so publicly. Members of the People Against Clergy Who Preach Hate have a right to publicly disagree with Anderson. As long as it never goes beyond talk and demonstrations, then free speech is still maintained.
People on both sides of the fence need to realize that free speech does not mean people cannot criticize you for what you said.

Interesting that it seems to be okay for the Radical Right to throw all kinds of insults not only at Obama, but at anyone who disagrees with them. But let the liberals throw an insult at someone the right supports and the right is crying and whining and stomping their feet because they feel that the liberals are trying to stop them from speaking their minds. The problem is that they HAVE no minds.
The constitution protects freedom of speech only insofar as the government is concerned; the government can't interfere with it up to the point of screaming words that incite violence. But private citizens and businesses can interfere with it all they want. Sure, they can be sued for libel if someone doesn't like their expression of their opinions, but the government itself can't interfere.

Looks like a perfect opportunity to pipe the sermons out to them while they picket, don't you think? I wonder how many of the paid picketers would convert and switch sides upon hearing what is actually said.
