"Merry Christmas" is Hate Speech?

Leftists are great at ratcheting up the rhetoric -- accusing cautious centrists like George Bush of being a "Nazi" etc. So I suppose we should have expected this recent bit of hysteria:

"As some Americans' holiday season draws nigh, secular humanists, Christians, and non-Christian believers should all reflect on what will make this season different from any before it. Depending on context, wishing someone "Merry Christmas!" can now function as hate speech

You have to feel sorry for the sad soul who believes such obvious nonsense. I am a complete atheist but I have just had a very merry Christmas (See here) and I certainly wish the same for everyone -- and I am not slow to say so.
