What happened to him is an absolute outrage. As the battle in New York over same-sex marriage heated up, Damian wrote a note stating his views on his own personal twitter account — to just 175 or so followers: "I completely and whole-heartedly support Todd Reynolds and his support for the traditional and TRUE meaning of marriage."
The next day he was called in by his bosses. He expected a slap on the wrist, maybe a demand he apologize — "How can I apologize for something I don't want to apologize for?" he recalls wondering to himself. Instead he was summarily fired. "We're terminating your contract."
One of his bosses twisted the knife "Damian do you remember that conversation we had a while ago about the plans we had for you and these other shows at Sportsnet? Well that's not happening now, you're fired!"

In the U.S. there are "at will" states meaning that an employer in those states can terminate your employment at any time for any reason (except provable discrimination) with no notice.
This guy was under contract, but I suspect there's a clause that he signed to that gives the employer similar rights.
This guy is in Candada and I believe the employment laws there are a little more strict when it comes to discharging an employee, particularly one that is under contract. They probably had to pay him for the rest of the contract.
I wonder how long it will take people to catch onto the fact of how truly dangerous sites like facebook and twitter really are. People complain about no longer having privacy, yet they go to these "public" sites and expect privacy.

The US is just annoyed they didn't succeed in taking over "Canada" in the War of 1812 and will for ever more denigrate it!
While there is freedom of speech there is not freedom from the consequences of that speech, even if it is from political correctness BS gone too far.
Oh and Anon 3:44, I have no problems with Canadians, in fact I brought my wife here from Ontario. Canada is a sister country so I see no problem with them at all. And if we wanted to take it over, we could.

Yes the US today has the military power (nuclear and otherwise) to take over Canada, but to do so would reveal the US as a monster imperialist, and so only likely in the unlikely event of the US being invaded by some aggressor occupying or going through Canada.
