Dambusters dog to be renamed Digger for remake of iconic film... because N-word might offend Americans

Britain:
"The Dambusters dog N****r will be renamed Digger for a modern remake of the iconic film to avoid offending American viewers, it has emerged.

Script writer Stephen Fry, 53, has confirmed that pilot Guy Gibson's faithful black Labrador will be renamed for the forthcoming Peter Jackson movie.

In the original 1955 film Gibson's dog's name was spoken 12 times as a code word to report successful dam breaches to RAF Bomber Command.

'In the film, you're constantly hearing 'n-word, n-word, n-word, hurray' and Barnes Wallis is punching the air. 'But obviously that's not going to happen now. So Digger seems okay, I reckon.'

The iconic 1955 film tells the story of British Second World War scientists who developed a bouncing bomb as a means of attacking Germany's dams.

Mervyn Hallam, curator of RAF Scampton museum, today slammed the change and accused Fry of trying to 'rewrite history'.

Jon,

The ONLY reason you posted this article was to stir up all your faithful racist followers. Good thinking.

How will today's american audiences understand 1940's british english anyway? If there are necessary subtitles then the dog's name can just be written as "N**g*r". If the actors use a more modern transatlantic english, then it's not even trying to be historically accurate and so the dog's name can be made Fido, Rex or anything.

The above is a perfect example of what Lenin meant by, "usefull idiots."

The Dambusters is one of my all-time favorite British movies. Now, this historical account of an actual event has to be "manipulated" so that it conforms to the Left's "version" of reality, ie. political correctness. Now, for something that is anti-PC. In other words, a fact.

Here, in 21st century America, the word nigger is always seen as a racial slur, especially by those (usually blacks) who are "offended" and see it as a chance to sue someone, or something, and end up with a big payday. ($$$) This, dispite the fact that the average black person can't get through a single sentence without using the word.

Fact: In the old days of the American South, and because of their way of speaking, (drawl) when Whites refered to blacks as negros, the word came out as "nigras". It was never meant or intended to be a racial slur of any kind. As the word progressed to the North, and because of different speaking patterns, it became "niggers". I must admit that i have no knowledge what this word actually means to Brits, although i doubt it's meant to be a racial slur.

"Beware of those who cry racism, for they are the true racists..."

I've seen this movie many times on the AMC movie network in the US. It was always shown in it's original version, including calling his dog by it's name, Nigger. And yes, as a dog lover, i was sad when Nigger was killed.

Some day, (perhaps) people will realize that political correctness is a serious threat to, not only our freedom, but our liberty and our very way of life. It has already altered the way we speak and think. PC, like terrorism, is fueled by weak-minded people.

As a kid most of the loner Vietnam vets who used buy us warm twelve packs of beer if we paid double used to in passing refer to blacks as "jungle bunnies." This was in the Twin Cities, MN.

If they simply changed the colour of the pilots they could keep the word.
Apparently it is ok for blacks to say 'Nigger'.

Yes. More amusing if they shot the re-make with all-black actors and the dog was a white Skye terrier called Cracker.

I'm sure that would be acceptable.
