The line was unintelligibly defended by Howard, Vince Vaughn, and numerous web commentators who think that a joke too lazy and immature for anybody over 13 to find funny is the same thing as South Park-style take-no-prisoners satire.

Extensive commentary at the source link. The Left certainly regard homosexuals as an especially protected class. It's just their opinion, though. Hate speech laws contravene the 1st Amendment and laughing at someone is a mite different from hating them anyway.

That's because most gays are part of the Left. The radical Left. As has been the case for a very long time, gays want to be "legislated" into a "special" class of citizen, with rights and protections above and beyond those enjoyed by all others. Ironically, they already enjoy that "special class" existence, but as is always the case with professional whiners, it's never enough.

Drinking the blood and eating the body of Christ seems to be rather ghoulish to me. Or is it really a cracker with wine?
Gay, I assume, is in reference to the flamboyant four-color or silly nature of many homosexuals who act in an over dramatic fashion. Hence, Gay=Silly, obnoxious, or stupid acting. However, no matter what word you use, such outlandish behavior (not representative of all deviant sexual lifestyles) will be maligned by the majority culture. Change the words if you wish, it will always get a negative connotation because it describes undesirable behavior.
Saw a Ford T-shirt the other day. It was nice, had the Ford emblem on the front. But I couldn't get it. Right under the logo it say "American Pride" and it made me think of Gay Pride parades.
So gays have ruined the use of the word 'gay' and the word 'pride.'
Stupid gays.
If the homosexual community wants credibility then renounce the term gay when used in reference to their lifestyle. They are not an endangered species and have no moral right to expect such status.
If you want mainstream recognition then stand in line and take your knocks along with the rest of the world. If you protest like idiots then expect to be treated as such. This applies equally to both genders.
Above all else stop bastardising the English language with your insipid euphemisims.

You're all missing the point. To the Leftist or Liberal, there is to be no fun, laughing, joking, or anything that would remotely be humorous. To do so would constitute offense to at least someone, and they simply can't have that. (Unless, of course, it's directed to Conservatives, then it's perfectly acceptable.)
