We read:
"A principal in a Massachusetts school district with a well-established reputation of promoting homosexuality to students has written to parents to tell them distributing "religious materials" during the school's annual observance of the pro-homosexual "Day of Silence" is not appropriate.
The letter from Michael Jones of Lexington, Mass., High School also confirms "hate speech" is "subject to legal constraints" and messages communicated through slogan T-shirts, buttons or stickers that express "condemnation" are "discouraged." Students with such a message will be counseled by school officials to meet the guidelines of the school handbook, he wrote.
However, groups that have been given his approval are allowed to hand out promotional materials to others and positive messages about the "Day of Silence" such as "Vocal Supporter" and "Silent Supporter" fall under free speech guidelines, Jones said.

Leftists always seem to think that the law does not apply to them.

Perhaps someone should tell the probably gay Mr. Jones that "his approval" is not needed to exercise one's First Amendment rights! If he/she/it has any doubts, he/she/it can read the above posting!
"Day of Silence" not so silent.
Michael Jones says that, "Hate speech is subject to legal constraints." Does there exist in the commonwealth of Massachucetts a law that contravenes the guarantee of freedom of speech contained in our First Amendment? Does he think that such a law is enforcable? Does he think such a law would pass constitutional muster? I do not know Mr. Jones but I would venture to say that his answers to the foregoing questions would be an emphatic "Yes!"
Funny how some sitse focus on liberal principals that support the day of silence vs. conservative principals that oppose it and harass those who engage in it.
harass those who engage in it.
Luckily that didn't happen here, eh?
Instead, you have a principal that is threatening parents and students who are exercising their right of free speech and freedom of religion. In his letter, the principal states that anyone that hands out religious literature during the school day will be disciplined.
Sorry to tell you this, but he doesn't have that ability to limit the distribution of literature based on content. It is an all or nothing type thing. As he is allowing distribution of pro gay literature, he must allow literature that opposes it.
And coming from The Peoples Republic of Massachucetts, this surprises you?
This is precisely why those on the Left want the Constitution to be a "living document", one that can be "adjusted, tweeked, and of course, manipulated" at will. Their will!
