That it was a conventional symbol of piracy (much used in various entertainments) long before the Nazis came along does not matter, apparently. If the image was being used to promote Nazism, the protest might have had some point but in fact only one super-sensitive person was even aware of the similarity to Nazi iconography. But that one person was allowed to make the rules for everybody else.
