
I have always liked Scottish comedian Billy Connolly. His humor is to a great extent the humor of the Glasgow man-in-the-street -- though a bit earthy for some. But I wonder could he get away with saying the following in America:
"Take, for instance, his opinion on political correctness: "You can't be a coward forever. It's such bollocks, you know, the way politics and the media are behaving today -- you know, smoking's bad and s*domy's good, you know -- f--- that! That's nonsense, and it's so obviously nonsense!"

He appears to have said that in Canada, however, so there is hope for plain talking yet. The "s-word" would automatically produce a charge of "homophobia" in many circles, I gather. Interesting to see what happens on his Canadian tour.
