Sneaky Senate Trying To Slip Internet Kill Switch Past Us
We read:
"Sensing Senators don’t have the stomach to try and pass a stand-alone bill in broad daylight that would give the President the power to shut down the Internet in a national emergency, the Senate is considering attaching the Internet Kill Switch bill as a rider to other legislation that would have bi-partisan support.
While proponents say an Internet Kill Switch is needed to protect the nation’s power, water and banking grids, what it really is is a way to control the flow of information. Experts have said that the nation’s power and water grids are not connected directly to the Internet.
Lieberman let slip his real thoughts on the Internet Kill Switch in an interview with CNN’s Candy Crowley when he said, “Right now China — the government — can disconnect parts of its Internet in a case of war. We need to have the ability to do that, too.”
China and other totalitarian regimes readily use their power over the Internet to deny their citizens the free flow of information. And that’s what in store for the United States if this bill comes to fruition.

One of the fundamental flaws in Congress is their failure to insist that each bill not contain any unrelated actions.
An honest Congress would make that one of the rules they abide by but I'm not holding my breath waiting for such a mythical beast.
Why not call it the First Amendment Kill Switch? That's what it is, really, can you imagine the government shutting down libraries and books stores? Can you imagine Obama demanding that his speeches to the nation be broadcasted by HBO, MTV and Cinemax? The Internet is the new marketplace of ideas and God help us if they can shut it down at will.
Sheesh! How they prey on the fears of the ignorant, by suggesting that mission-critical systems, such as water and power, can be accessed from the civilian internet.
And what balls they have to suggest that the USA should have such a thing, simply because China has one!
Herr Obama und his commrades vill get ze bill passed. Propaganda Minister Pelosi vill zee to that.
Der Obamameister has only brrn playing softball since he vas elected. Herr Obama is going to make Hitler look like Little Bo Peep. Mark my words.

Yes, Bobby, I can imagine it. That is the scary problem.
Anon 12:20, you nailed it. If legislation was limited to "single-item" legislation, this issue would be a non-issue.
And before someone says, "But it would create too much work for them", remember, IT'S THEIR F*CKING JOB!!!

Too much work? They already do about 100 times more than they should be doing!
Maybe people could connect their wifi networks somehow to make a private geurillanet?
You can bet this insult to freedom will find it's way into law, one way or another. Oh, they may have to do what they usually do when the sheeple get upset, and that is to simply change the name of the bill. And after it's passed, we'll then find out what's really in the legislation.
When you rule a nation of weak, mindless sheep, this is how you treat them. No need to respect their wishes. No need to follow the constitution and heed the will of the people. When the people become so dumb as to allow an openly Marxist administration like this one to continue, it tells the administration they can do anything they want, and that's exactly what they're doing.
Some day, (maybe) American voters will realize there's a price to pay for stupidity and intellectual laziness.
Don't kid yourselves. The government has the ability to do it right now if they want to. They just don't have the legal authority to do it.
"Don't kid yourselves. The government has the ability to do it right now if they want to. They just don't have the legal authority to do it."
---How can they do it technically? Will they send thugs to every Comcast building?
Honestly, if they win the ability to shut down the Internet, Fox News is next.
That is exactly where they want this to lead...
Bobby said, "Honestly, if they win the ability to shut down the Internet, Fox News is next."
No big loss.
"No big loss."
--It would be a big loss for me, Fox News is the only station I watch for news. If you watch MSNBC you'd think the Governor passed the Arizona anti-illegal alien law to help a private prison builder make money by housing illegals. If you watch CNN you'll never hear stories of teachers that make the kids sing pro-Obama songs. When it comes to news and commentary, Fox leads the way.
Fox isn't bound to any narrative, they have no agenda other than getting huge ratings by being fair and balanced.
The haters in the liberal media think that if you don't enjoy what they do, you're probably too stupid and don't matter anyway.
Bobby continues to say: "When it comes to news and commentary, Fox leads the way."
Like lemmings jumping off a cliff.
Bobby also said, "they have no agenda other than getting huge ratings by being fair and balanced. "
They certainly achieved that by giving $1,000,000.00 to the Republicans.
Wake up Bobby.
"Like lemmings jumping off a cliff."
---So where do you get your news? Some whackjob website where they tell you that 9/11 was an inside job and the feds are contaminating the waters to keep you stupid?
"They certainly achieved that by giving $1,000,000.00 to the Republicans."
---All networks make political donations, in fact, all big businesses do. So what's wrong? I'd rather see the GOP raising money from the private sector than demanding public financing of their campaigns.
Besides, in the age of Obama Fox has to protect themselves and their audience. Do you want the democrats so bring back the so-called "fairness" doctrine?
Just look at Fox - their "presenters" shout down the very people they invite to interview.
Refer to Youtube excerpts.
"Fox News goes out of their way to say that they are "fair and balanced". That is utter hogwash. Complete bullshit. And you, Bobby, are a delusional apologist if you say otherwise. Idiot."
---I don't know how you define fair and balance, but after watching CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, CBS, NBC News and the BBC News it seems to me that Fox is the fairest and most balanced one of them all.
"Just look at Fox - their "presenters" shout down the very people they invite to interview."
---Only on the commentary shows, it's called "the no spin zone" for a reason. Besides, the liberal networks also shout you down, I've seen them treating Ann Coulter like a piece of crap, even at PBS they will shout you down, specially at the Mcloughing show, however you spell his last name.
My point is this, if you know any station that is better than Fox News, mention it, otherwise you're not backing up your accusations.
Fox is a great station, in this horrible age of Obama they're the only ones treating the Obama opposition with respect.
Q: What's the difference between Fox News and a bucket of shit?
A: The bucket.
