Prominent Australian sportswoman uses naughty word
Rugby Union is an obscure football code that originated in the ancient British independent school of Rugby. In Australia it tends to be the football code followed by the alumni of private schools.
Describing the South African team as "f**gots" was probably a reference to Percy Montgomery in particular.
"Rugby great Ian Roberts has slammed Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice [pic above] as a "complete idiot" after the sporting pin-up girl posted an anti-gay comment on her Twitter page.
Remarking after the Wallabies' two-point win over the Springboks in South Africa on Saturday night, Rice - who has left the Commonwealth Games team due to injury - tweeted: "Suck on that f**gots," adding: "Probably the best game I've ever seen!! Well done boys."
The comment, which Rice has since removed, stunned Roberts who yesterday called for sponsors to question their support of the glamour-girl swimmer. "She is an idiot . . . and anyone who continues to endorse her as an athlete is an idiot as well," Roberts fumed.
Acknowledging her comment later, Rice wrote; "Okay so maybe I got a bit too excited before!! But I love seeing Australians do well". Last night Rice issued a statement saying she had made the comment in the excitement of the moment.

So once again there is an attack on the livelihood (sponsorship in this case) of someone who uses "incorrect" words.
The everyday word for homosexuals among uncensored Australians and Brits is "poof" or "poofter" so it is a little surprising that Rice used the American term. She has however travelled a great deal overseas in connection with her sport so probably picked the term up somewhere there. She may not have realized how VERY derogatory it is in America. "Poof" is only a mildly derogatory term in Australia.

Yet another case of ignorance wed to fame!
BobHead, it's called freedom of expression. Deal with it.
---Yeah, and it's a two way street. That means the bitch gets to speak and the people get to respond.
It also means that as she says she made a mistake and has apologized for it, people like should have the class and grace to forgive her and move on.
But you won't do that.
"It also means that as she says she made a mistake and has apologized for it, people like should have the class and grace to forgive her and move on."
---I guess I didn't read that part.
"But you won't do that."
---Fine, I do apologize for that. Happy? Whatever, that woman is lucky she picked on a minority that isn't as popular as the blacks.
It's so primitive and cowardly to pick on individuals or groups that seldom fight back - eg. homosexuals, and then even criticize them when they complain about it.
Seldom fight back? What planet have you been living on? There are "very few" groups in our society that are as radical in their activism as are gays.
---Oh please, they're so boring.
You're kidding, right? You haven't seen the churches that gays have trashed and destroyed? You haven't seen businesses aggressively and violently protested and attacked for supporting Prop 8?
What's radical about that?
What is radical about trying to change thousand's of years of history and the meaning of words over that same time? Is that really what you are asking?
Yet gays are the bad guys?
Nice hyperbole, but once again you fail to hit the mark.
Slavery was traditional for hundreds or thousands of years, so why did those radical abolitionists upset everyone by campaigning against it?
Women had their place as chattels of men for hundreds or thousands of years, so why did those radical suffragettes upset everyone demanding to vote just like men?
BTW very few homosexuals are able or willing to be "radical" or activisits. Most seek a quiet life unmolested by bigots, but bullies look for those in society who are easy prey.
10:07 - Human relationships are not all about procreation. And we are no longer such slaves of nature that we blindly follow instincts like other life-forms. Do you ever use a condom? Do you ever eat for pleasure? Do you ever drink alcohol? Well, even if you don't many do.
"You're kidding, right? You haven't seen the churches that gays have trashed and destroyed?"
---I have, and that's the exception, not the rule. Do we stereotype Christians just become some of them bomb abortion clinics, kill abortion doctors, and do other horrible things? No. The great majority of gays are law-abiding citizens, just like everyone else.
"You haven't seen businesses aggressively and violently protested and attacked for supporting Prop 8?"
---I have, and I think it's wrong.
"What is radical about trying to change thousand's of years of history and the meaning of words over that same time? Is that really what you are asking?"
---Civil marriage and religious marriage are not the same. Where's the sanctity of marriage in a drive thru wedding? What's holy about getting married by an Elvis impersonator?
I respect marriage when it occurs between two soulmates rather than seeing people like Tiger Woods get married and then behave like a bachelor only to apologize later on for what he wanted to do in the first place.
I don't care how the government defines marriage, I'm an individual, I define it anyway I want. What it means to me will always mean the same no matter what crazy stuff they do in Vegas or anywhere else.
I can't believe that there are so many in the closet, gay, right wingers here commenting. incredible.
---I have, and that's the exception, not the rule.
No, it's not. Don't let reality get in the way of your misconceptions. Remember that the gay community sued to have private donors that supported Prop 8 to be made public so they could attack and intimidate them. That was done not by a few individuals, but by the entire community.
Do we stereotype Christians just become some of them bomb abortion clinics, kill abortion doctors, and do other horrible things?
You don't get to redefine the word "stereotype" to fit your misconceptions. And yes, we do see Christians and their beliefs attacked for the acts of the lunatics. One difference that you will not recognize or take note of is that when an abortion doctor is attacked, or a clinic bombed, Christians condemn the acts. When a church or business is attacked, the silence from the gay community is deafening.
---Civil marriage and religious marriage are not the same.
Nice deflection. The fact of the matter is that the term "marriage" means a union between a man and a woman.
I'm an individual, I define it anyway I want.
You can try, but it trying to define words in your own way shows how intellectually dishonest you are.
This is great! Two right wingers at each other's throats - Bobby and Anon1:45. LOL.
9:45 - you evidently have comprehension difficulties &/or unable to follow particular points being made. If you are rolling on the floor, it may be a symptom of a mental problem - get help and never mind the homosexuals; though I'm sure they are all delighted to know you will allow them to have relationships, and I'm also sure most would agree with you that it shouldn't be "viewed as a marriage of a man and a woman" since the couples in question are either both men or both are women!
"No, it's not. Don't let reality get in the way of your misconceptions. Remember that the gay community sued to have private donors that supported Prop 8 to be made public so they could attack and intimidate them. That was done not by a few individuals, but by the entire community."
---The entire community? You mean absolutely everyone? Be serious now, this was done by a thousand gay activists at the most.
"You don't get to redefine the word "stereotype" to fit your misconceptions. And yes, we do see Christians and their beliefs attacked for the acts of the lunatics. ---That is not so. http://www.gaypatriot.net/
There are many independent voices in the gay community. Ever heard of Tammy Bruce? She's a regular on The O'reilly Factor and she's no liberal.
---Civil marriage and religious marriage are not the same.
"Nice deflection. The fact of the matter is that the term "marriage" means a union between a man and a woman."
---Why are you letting the government define things for you? Do you follow the food pyramid? Do you let them define your diet as well? The term marriage has changed before, the union of a black man and a white woman used to be called "miscegenation" and it was banned in most states. In fact, during the times of slavery, a man was called a buck, a woman a wench, and their children "litter."
"You can try, but it trying to define words in your own way shows how intellectually dishonest you are."
---It is not, I simply believe in the supremacy of the individual over the state and the community. Or as Thomas Jefferson said, “If it neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket, what difference is it to me?”
Well, same-sex marriage neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket.
In fact, same-sex marriage is a lot less troubling than say deficit spending, tax increases, red tape, government persecution of BP, etc.
This is great! Two right wingers at each other's throats - Bobby and Anon1:45. LOL.
Bobby is about as "right wing" as Obama is.
---Actually, I'm a right-wing libertarian.
Actually, you are more ideologically aligned with Obama / Pelosi than anyone on the right.
"Actually, you are more ideologically aligned with Obama / Pelosi than anyone on the right."
---That is bullshit and you know it. I hate Obama's policies, I hate Obamacare, massive government spending, the bailout of GM, his stance on burning the quran (I am for it), his "hope and change" charade. I am nothing like Obama, and anyone who has known me for a while knows I was a huge cheerleader for George W. Bush.
"I was a huge cheerleader for George W. Bush."
That explains your lunacy. You must have looked cute in those little cheerleading outfits.
---That is bullshit and you know it.
No it isn't. You disrespect the military as do Obama and Pelosi. You want more taxes for the rich, as do Obama and Pelosi. You think that the rest of the country should support your lazy butt, as do Obama and Pelosi. You think that you should tell companies and presidents of companies how to run their business, as do Obama and Pelosi. You are for others being responsible, but you have no responsibility, which is what Obama and Pelosi believe. You believe in free speech as long as you agree with what is being said, as do Obama and Pelosi.
You look to the left and there is no one there. You look to the right, and there are many people there.
4:26AM - Oh you poor "straight white male" - how's it feel to be an oppressed minority? - or are you just bleeting and whining like all minorities are so often accused of?
2:49 PM, you're just making things up. I have no time for you. Goodbye.
