Free speech ruling gives US parks, Justice pause
We read:
"If you want to stage a protest or distribute leaflets at one of the 392 national parks, a panel of U.S. Court of Appeals judges says you can do it without obtaining a permit. The Department of Justice and the National Park Service are not sure they agree and are considering an appeal.”

Given Glen Beck's success at the Lincoln Memorial I can see why the liberal bureaucrats are upset.
Heaven forbid that the PEOPLE should use the PEOPLE's property the advance the cause of the PEOPLE. Can't have PEOPLE exercising their constitutional rights. That's just not the American way.
Well, I think what they want to ensure is that crazy people from all over (Glenn Beck especially included) don't take up all the popular spots in the parks when people just want to enjoy nature.
How would you like to see Half-Dome and you have to walk through a gauntlet of protesters and activists just to get a descent view? Just imagine pro-illegal immigrant rallies, pro-muslim rallies, pro-gun rights rallies, along with all their supporters and detractors at Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Yosemite. And if you ask them to stop, they'll yell, FIRST AMENDMENT, FIRST AMENDMENT!!!!
I believe in the first amendment and the bill of rights, but those rights stop when you interfere with me attempting to go about my business.
Parks are for everyone's use and I believe there must be a compelling reason to disrupt other people's lives.

You're an idiot who can't see the forest through the trees.
Why is it that people are so stupid that they can't see anything beyond their own cause?
Now if we were living in the time of the old west and we can shoot people who piss us off, then go for it. There are too many stupid people standing in line in front of me at the grocery store anyway.

Nono, that's not it AT ALL!
You got to protect the people from subversive ideas, got to ensure they know how and what to think (and more important still, when not to think and who to listen to and know they're telling the truth and who to ignore).
And nanny knows best, these right wing nutters have to be silenced lest they give people strange ideas that don't stroke with what the people should know to be true.
See, it all makes perfect sense that there should be just a little censorship so the government can protect you from hearing and seeing things you shouldn't.
I found out the hard way about National Parks and free speech last July.
My daughter and i were admiring the Grand Canyon from a point in the National Park when a 20-something, hot look, drop-dead blonde woman with a nicely shaped butt, wearing skin tight shorts walked past.
Sure I glanced for a couple of seconds. But then while gazing at the splendor of the canyon I happened to mention to my daughter: "That's a huge crack and I'd like to go to the bottom of it"
I was immediately slapped very hard by the blonde.
So much for "innocent" free speech in National Parks!

'There are too many stupid people standing in line in front of me at the grocery store anyway.'
The people behind you are probably saying the same thing.
anon 6:09am is a very fearful person trying to monger us into fear. Your situations would never occur, never.
