Some American heritage: Censorship defeated by democracy

We read:
"Federalists hoped the Sedition Act would stifle political opposition, but many Democratic-Republicans still criticized the Federalists and made the Act a key election issue in 1800.

That election resulted in the ‘Revolution of 1800′ — a landslide victory by Thomas Jefferson and in Federalists at all levels of government being turned out of office.

The attempt to muffle criticism also later contributed to the demise of the Federalist Party.

Congress repeatedly apologized for, and voted compensation to victims of, the enforcement of the Sedition Act. Thomas Jefferson pardoned all of those who had been so convicted.

Assuming there are elections, Osama bin Barak ibn Soutoro has a lesson to learn.
However, an "incident" can easily be created that allows him to "postpone" those elections indefinitely by presidential decree, effectively allowing him to rule as long as he likes.

As crazy as that sounds Anon, you make a very good point, and one that sould be taken seriously. The radical Left has worked too long and too hard to get control of this government. Don't assume they'll give it up so easy. But don't despair. We have more guns than they do!

If ever there was a modern political party that deserves to shrivel up, die, crumble to dust, and blow away, it's today's Democrat party. I would be hard-pressed to find any member of that party who doesn't either favor fascist tyranny outright or has gone along and voted with the fascist Democrats to pass such legislation. Interestingly, one of the predictions Bob Prechter made back in 2003 for the next couple decades is that one or more of the major parties in the U.S. would either disappear or undergo major reform. We see the Republican party now undergoing major reform. Seeing the Democrat party we have today disappear entirely, like the Federalist party did, would be cause for celebration.

I agree with Robert, in a perfect world, Republicans and Libertarians would be the two major parties.

The US is too enfeebled to stop the competition from China, Russia and other now or future nuclear states like Iran. Even the europeans are uniting in a powerful bloc (with nukes too).

Mark my words. There will be gunfire before all this is over. I agree the left will try to take over at any cost
