Not allowed to say food is "unhealthy"?
I am looking forward to the outcome of this one. Most of what is said about food being "healthy" or "unhealthy" is crap. See my FOOD & HEALTH SKEPTIC blog. If this case succeeds, most of the world's dietary advisers, epidemiologists and politicians will be in trouble.
"Reality TV star Kim Kardashian got a visit from the cookie monster this Christmas, thanks to her Twitter feed.
Dr Siegal’s Cookie Diet filed a defamation lawsuit against the reality starlet in Miami on Tuesday for unspecified damages after Kardashian reportedly tweeted on October 29 that the popular Hollywood diet was “unhealthy”.
According to the lawsuit filed by the Cookie Diet, Kardashian wrote: “Dr. Siegal’s cookie diet is falsely promoting that I’m on this diet. NOT TRUE! I would never do this unhealthy diet! I do QuickTrim!”

I don't see the basis of the lawsuit, calling something healthy or unhealthy is mostly a matter of opinion. Kardashian isn't even a doctor so how much damage can she really do?

ReplyDelete---Remember when the meat industry sued Oprah for saying eating meat was dangerous? They lost, and Oprah has a lot more credibility and following than that girl. I think the cookie diet people are simply trying to make some money out of Kim, we'll see if they win, I wouldn't be on it, what Kim said was an opinion, the highest form of free speech. Defamation would be "the cookie diet gives you cancer" or really serious stuff like that.

---Whoa, Paris Hilton has done way more than Kim. Paris has written a book, acted in movies, developed a perfume, sang a song that became a top 20 hit for a while, done TV commercials for Hardees, got paid big bucks to promote hot clubs all over the country, developed a fashion line, started in A Simple Life and developed and started in a couple of succesful MTV show. Paris earns more than a million bucks a year from her different joint ventures, so let's give her some credit.

ReplyDelete---No, I'm just fair and balanced. Paris Hilton accomplishes more in one year than Obama has in his entire life. What exactly has Obama accomplished anyway? As a President he's no good, the Nobel Prize was undeserved, as a community organizer all he managed was to make people angry, if the economy is getting better is certainly NOT because of him but inspite of him.
Seriously, if you can't admire a succesful and hardworking woman like Paris Hilton, a woman who makes over a million bucks selling her image, a woman who can get paid $50,000 just to visit a club, then you're being too hard. Paris Hilton may not be a saint, but her actions are honest. Unlike Obama, she doesn't deceive people, she doesn't pretend to be one thing and then do another.
So if you believe in the expression "give me a sinner over a hypocrite" then you have to admit that Paris is a whole lot better than Obama.
I'm in a love-hate relationship with virtual memory because of the way prices are always falling. I absolutely hate buying SDs for my R4 / R4i at (what seems to be) a cheap price only to see it become a whole lot cheaper a few weeks later.
