Did the Jonesboro Sun Publish Hate Speech?Sounds a reasonable comment to me. Homosexuals themselves often refer to themselves as queer these daysLGBT group Wipe Out Homophia posted a photo on Facebook that shows what looks to be a letter to the editor on the Jonesboro Sun, an Arkansas newspaper, that could be interpreted as hate speech.
The short message, under the headline “Correct Decision,” and written by someone named Carl Baxter, reads as follows:
“Congratulations to the Boy Scouts of America for doing the right thing and reaffirming their gay ban. That’s why they are called Boy Scouts and not Queer Scouts of America,” the message says.
According to Alyssa Aldridge, who sent the photo to WOH, it was published last Saturday, on July 21.
No LGBT organizations that we know of have approached the newspaper about the letter so far. However, the Facebook post received close to 500 comments in the last hours, many in repudiation.

Apparently, in this "formally-free country", opinion is now considered "hate speech" simply because someone disagrees with what you've said.
ReplyDeleteAlso, i wouldn't be a bit surpised to find that a gay activist placed that letter in the paper. It's a common practice among people looking to get attention for their cause.
Isn't it amazing how little tolerence, (actually none) gays have for anyone who they disagree with, while at the same time, demanding total tolerence from everyone.
Sorry, i've been looking but can't seem to find it. Can someone show me where the "hate" is in that letter?

ReplyDeleteThere's no hate there (in the open), but as queer boys are still boys, it was childish to make such a statement. It would have been more accurate to say "Queer Boy Scouts". I'm sure there is plenty of hate coming from the left critizing him though.

ReplyDeleteThat is the beauty of the first amendment. It does not say “the right to free speech (except for that which offends me).”
Stand there and listen to a man advocating something at the top of his lungs that makes your blood boil, allowing him the same right to speak they you have to spend a lifetime denouncing it at the top of your lungs.
Celebrate THAT, praise THAT, and then you can talk to me about free speech, THEN you can all this the land of the free!

ReplyDeleteSo no more "We're here, We're queer, get used to it."? Or is this another word that is an "our" word like nigger, that only some people are allowed to use based on their station, or color, or deviant behavior, or political views?
ReplyDeleteWhile we still have some freedom in this country, i will exercise my right to use any words i wish when i speak, be it queer, nigger, etc. If they can say it, so can i. If those people don't like the sound of those words, they should set an example and stop using them.
