Italy: Comic escapes prosecution for insulting Pope

We read:
"An Italian comic who said Pope Benedict would be punished in hell for the church's treatment of homosexuals was spared possible prosecution on Thursday when the government blocked an investigation against her. Sabina Guzzanti, one of Italy's most biting political satirists, made the remarks before a cheering crowd of thousands gathered at Rome's Piazza Navona in July.

A Rome prosecutor suspected the comments broke a law protecting the honor and dignity of the leader of 1.1 billion Roman Catholics under a 1929 Italian treaty with the Vatican. But the treaty, signed by fascist dictator Benito Mussolini, required government approval before the investigation could go forward. Justice Minister Angelino Alfano decided to block it."

The Pope is a big boy. He can take care of himself without some overzealous prosecutor worrying about his "dignity."

Of course if he were a Mullah the comic would have been lambasted first in the press and then ripped apart in the courts.

God doesn't hate gays - he just hates their actions.

Which god is that? The jealous vengeful god of the Hebrews?

Yes - according to the Bible - but that's the rub. It's the record of the Hebrew people and their tribal god Yahweh - even the New Testament is attributed to Jewish writers. Yahweh was a self-declared jealous god - especially of the rival god Baal, and enjoined the Hebrews to smite the opposition with great slaughter! Hmm - very edifying!

And the Bible is the most reviewed, most studied, and most historically validated book in history. Scientists, archaeologists, and scholars alike continually uncover evidence that further confirms and validates the Bible's historical and literary significance and accuracy.

And as history clearly shows, Baal would ultimately became known as "Allah" to the Muslim world--a manifestation of evil. While God, as documented in the New Testament, sent Jesus to the world to be the final sacrifice for the worlds' sins for all who believe--quite the antithesis of those who continue to worship Baal/Allah.

How do you make the connection between the Muslim god and the ancient god Baal, when the Muslims think Allah is the god of Abraham??
