Are Child-molesters "Perverts"?

There is a short article here which makes the interesting point that "pervert" is now an unsayable word: "It now apparently is more horrid to use the term about someone who is actually a pervert than for that person to be a pervert."

Is NOTHING perverted? Like any word it can be misused, but surely it has legitimate uses too.
