CO: Some Native Americans “offended” by gun rights billboards
Two billboards in which images of Native Americans are used to make a gun rights argument are causing a stir with some Colorado residents who say the image is offensive and insensitive.
The billboards in this northern Colorado city show three men dressed in traditional Native American attire and the words "Turn in your arms. The government will take care of you."
"I think it's a little bit extreme, of course, but I think people are really worried about their gun rights and what liberties are going to be taken away," Wells told the Greeley Tribune.
Greeley resident Kerri Salazar, who is of Native American descent, said she was livid when she learned about it. She said she doesn't have a problem with the gun rights message, but she's offended the Native American people were singled out, apparently without their consent.

ReplyDeleteThe people that put up the billboards do not want their identities to be divulged. That is quite cowardly of them. Instead, they hide behind their weapons and their anti-American ideology.
ReplyDeleteFrom the Denver Post, "A 24-year-old man accidently shot himself after spilling soda on his pistol while sitting in his car in Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThe victim spilled the drink onto his handgun at about 3:30 p.m. "After wiping it dry and while replacing the magazine in the gun, the gun accidently discharged," according to the Colorado Springs police web site.
The gunshot injured the man's left hand, left thigh and left calf.
A co-worker notified 911 and the victim was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was in fair condition."

NRA members are more highly educated and have a much higher percentage of professionals than the population at large. The haters (synonymous with leftist) almost always attack those they perceive as enemies rather than present a reasoned argument in favor of their view, usually because there is none.

It is dangerous to try to rob and murder people that have guns. It is easy when you have the gun, and they don't. Not every person with a gun is out to rob and murder, but when someone with a gun tells you to put yours down, be very suspicious of them. Simple, eh? Of course, the gungrabbers know all this and think that someday nobody with a gun will come to rob and murder them (even if they are robbing murderers themselves, or aspiring to be).

ReplyDeleteWith all respect due the "offended Native American" (which is very, very little), who gives a damn WHAT s/he thinks. Inconveniently for those who desire to control what others think, say, or own, the First Amendment guarantees the billboard's sponsor's right to speak up in defense of the Second Amendment. The problem will be if the billboard company can be intimidated into pulling the ad down.
