Atheists Launch Billboard Targeting Romney’s Mormon FaithBut no comments on Omama's professions of ChristianityAmerican Atheists (AA), a non-profit devoted to advancing a secular cause, has, once again, launched an anti-Mormon campaign.
The organization’s new billboard in southern Florida takes specific and pointed aim at Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s faith. The message, which is intended to negatively frame The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, invokes both homosexuality and race. The billboard reads, “No Blacks Allowed. No Gays Allowed. Shame on Mormonism.”
Dale Jones, a spokesperson for the church, dismissed the ad in an email to CNN, writing, “This group seems not to know that there have been black members of the Church since our earliest history, and there are many faithful gay members of the Church today.”

By flip-flopping on the gay marriage issue, Obama inoculated himself from criticism of his Christian (and Muslim) roots. Let's face it - they don't hate people of faith as long as that faith doesn't actually affect their political views!

ReplyDeleteMormon beliefs are even more crazy than standard Christianity. If a Mormon became President, the standing of the US would nose-dive even farther, unless MR kept his religion very very quiet (but then what would have been the point in having or sticking to such a weird religion).

Anon 3:26 - no, Mormons (as that term is applied to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) withdrew polygamy from the doctrines of the Church about 120 years ago.
Anon 3:44 - completely wrong. The doctrine was withdrawn by the only authority that could do so. It is not 'suppressed' - any member of the Church who is found to be practicing polygamy (even in countries where it is legal) will be removed from the Church.
The worst thing is that people are so ready to believe the worst about a religion that is even more American than apple pie.

ReplyDeleteIn case you haven't noticed, it's not Mitt Romney making the big deal about his Mormonism, it's Harry Reid (a Mormon himself) and others on the left and in the media that are trying to raise it as an issue.
No one should be disallowed because of religious beliefs.

ReplyDeleteObama doesn't claim to be a Muslim, but Romney does admit to being a Mormon. Reid also may claim to be a Mormon but he isn't running for the Presidency of the USA.
ReplyDeleteObama never claimed to be a Muslim, but he DOES claim to be a Christian. Yet his actions, ethics, and policies do not jibe with Christian teaching.
ReplyDeleteObama's only claim to Christianity is that he supposedly spent 20 years attending a racial politics centered church of "Rev. Wright" whose radical sermons must have been slept through by the future president. He certainly doesn't act like a Christian.

Unfortunately, half of the judges agree with our president's deceit, and thus the real opportunity for four more years of dragging this country down further and further until it is so weak that his Muslim brothers can sweep in and take over.
