The SPLC again

Anything they disagree with is "hate". But is they who are the haters. They hate anything conservative. It would be more accurate to call them the Southern Hate Mongering Center. Both Poverty and the Law are low priorities for them. They get lots of liberals to give them donations through their lurid scares, however, (according to them there's a Nazi under every bed) so they've got a nice little racket there.
"The Southern Poverty Law Center this week labeled as "hate groups" several political and religious organizations that campaign against same-sex marriage and, the center says, engage in "repeated, groundless name-calling" against gays and lesbians.

Included on the list released by the civil rights organization is the Family Research Council, a prominent and politically influential group of social conservatives. The report by the law center, which has spent four decades tracking extremist groups and hate speech, accuses the council and a dozen other groups of putting out "demonizing propaganda aimed at homosexuals and other sexual minorities."

Council President Tony Perkins, who was also named in the report, called the hate-group designation a political attack by a "liberal organization."

"The left's smear campaign of conservatives is . . . being driven by the clear evidence that the American public is losing patience with their radical policy agenda as seen in the recent election and in the fact that every state . . . that has had the opportunity to defend the natural definition of marriage has done so," Perkins said in a statement.

"Earlier this month, voters in Iowa sent a powerful message when they removed three Supreme Court justices who imposed same-sex marriage on the state. Would the SPLC also smear the good people of Iowa?"

"They (SPLC) hate anything conservative."

So, what's the problem?

This isn't a hard riddle to solve. Real hate crimes are down, and this hurts the SPLC's bottom line. Therefore, they have to dumb down the definition of "hate" just to have about the same level of "hate" to report year over year to keep the donations rolling in.

The Madoff scandal hurt the SPLC and similar groups immensely.

There is no "natural" definition of marriage - only a current legal one. There have been many forms of marriage, whether legal at one time or another or not - such as polygamy, polyandry, arranged marriages (whether forced or not for economic or political reasons, etc.) and various other forms of marriage, including accepted unions between same-sex couples in many indigenous or past societies around the world.
The current legal definition of marriage may be the accepted norm now in many (but not all) western societies, but to call itself "natural" is way off reality or accuracy. Marriage has never only been about producing babies - eg. passing on property rights!

2:05 -
probably their hypocrisy. They hate yet say hate is bad.

4:54 AM - bigots want it both ways - on the one hand they say gays are a tiny minority and reviled by society - yet they somehow manage to bring down whole societies and even whole empires. Of course it's just pathetic scapegoating - if jews and communists go out of fashion for that, nameblame the homos!

You have it wrong , examine cause and affect , homosexuality with all of its negativity is only one symptom of a less than healthy society . Its prevalence was drastically reduced after the fall of Rome . Must we completely decay or will we be able to return before complete collapse ? I don't want to start over .

It should come as no surprise to anyone who "chooses to see" that the SPLC is a hard-core Leftist organization that cares nothing about the law (or the truth) unless it furthers their twsted agenda.

As for gays, fear not, AIDS will save us.

"homosexuality was rampant in the NAZI party contrary to revisionist history. "

---Oh yeah? And what happened to Ernst Rohm on the night of the long knives? Yup, he got killed, so did others like him, Hitler also dissolved the SA and he passed the Paragraph 75 which sent plenty of gays to the concentration camps.

Don't buy into propaganda books like "The Pink Swastika," nazism is all about biology as in reproduction. Hitler even outlawed abortion for Aryans, nazi philosophy holds the traditional family in the highest esteem. The only time they departed from that philosophy was when the Nazis started asking women to have babies for the fuhrer to ensure plenty of soldiers during the 1,000 year reich.

Don't take it from me, talk to a modern neo-nazi and ask him how he feels about gays.

Think about it, you can't have a society that's obsessed with "blood and honor" and expanding the Aryan race if you adopt any sexuality that doesn't result in reproduction.

In fact, it's communists and fascists regimes that hate homosexuality because it serves them no purpose.

Libertarians look at things differently, we don't tell the individual what is good for him because we trust in his judgment as long as he doesn't violate our freedom. We don't believe in the lie about the so-called "greater good," the #1 excuse for increasing fascism, from prohibition to BATF and the TSA, but instead we put our faith in individuals making their own choices and living their own lives. We are realistic, we don't dream in a Leave it to Beaver utopia although we'll allow the people to choose it for themselves if they so want it, as long as they don't choose it for others.

Campaigning against same sex marriage makes you guilty of hate-crimes?
They might as well add the Catholic and Mormon Churches amongst others then.
Also Blacks and Hispanics voted fairly strongly against gay marriage if the reports I have read from California are to be believed.
That's right - more hate groups there.

These later posts demonstrate what bigotry and homophobia means! Asking that such opinions should be shown "respect" when they brazenly demean and insult gays - you must be joking!

---Yeah well, your comments only reinforce those views. You insult the people you try to convince, that never works no matter what issue you're defending or opposing.

Personally, I never listen to anyone that calls me a bigot.

"the SPLC need to lose thier tax exempt status"

I agree, but after all the fvcking churches lose their tax exempt status. Fair is fair.

Churches and mosques get tax advantages on the grounds of being non-political organizations - yet their vociferous spokes-people flagrantly shout out in the media and political arena to advance their own particular political/social agendas.
Their tax status should surely be revoked.
And then when a few atheists try to expresss their harmless opinions in the same way as religionists do all the time, they are verbally assaulted as though they were enemies of the state!
I can only surmize that free speech is a bit one-sided in the "Land of the Free".
