ReplyDelete"Cat" in American lingo, suggests a cool or hip person, as in a cool cat. Mostly used to refer to musicians, it orgionated in the 1950s. As an American, I have never heard of the term catamite.

I would have thought catamite (which I have heard of, being Australian and hence semi-literate) would have been a stretch...
