Labor Unions Trying to Silence Wal-Mart

In some States, Wal-Mart has started to air TV advertisements that respond to the criticisms directed at it by unions. Unsurprisingly, the unions don't like the other side of the story being presented. So what are they doing? Are they putting up better arguments of their own to counter what Wal-Mart is saying? No way! They have gone to the courts in an attempt to stop Wal-Mart from presenting its case to the public.

Their pretext for the legal attack is that one of the statements in the Wal-Mart ads is "false advertising". Why? Because a figure quoted there is derived from some research funded by Wal-Mart. If Wal-Mart funded the research, the findings must be false, apparently. That is of course the ad hominem logical fallacy but who said unions have to be logical?

To prevent their argument being completely laughed out of court, however, the unions say that the Wal-Mart research findings have been discredited. Discredited by whom? By a union-linked organization! Talk about the pot calling the kettle Afro-American!
